About the Head Instructor
Michael Thompson is an award-winning artist who has spent the last 30 years creating illustrations for clients such as Marvel, Hasbro, Dimension Films, Cartoon Network, and Warner Bros.
His incredible illustration work has been featured in books and used as videogame covers, movie posters, and toy packaging. Infiniti Motors, Intel and Coca-Cola have even featured Mike’s art in advertising campaigns, and he received three Clio Awards for the films Hidden Figures, Deadpool 2 and They Cloned Tyrone.
Michael’s digital-sculpting clients include Sideshow Collectibles, Reel FX and Nike, to name a few.
About the VOD Instructor
Bradley Collor is a 3D Character Artist driven by a dedication to producing premium art assets for the gaming and animation industry. Worked with prominent studios like Bungie and Electronic Arts, and established Stylus League and mL Creative Ventures.

Week 1: Introduction to Industry and Project Scope

Blockout Principles and Artistic Anatomy
- Explore blockout techniques.
- Dive into artistic anatomy.
Week 2: Creating Accessories and Hard Surfaces
- Adding accessories to your model
- Hard surface modeling techniques
Week 3: Posing and Refining Anatomy
- Study character posing techniques.
- Refine anatomical details.
Week 4: High-Frequency Detail
- Adding details to your model
- Working with Zwrap
Week 5: Topology and UV Mapping
- Creating topology for UVing
- Working with ZenUV in Blender
Substance Painter
- Substance Painter for texturing and material creation.
Week 6: Rendering in Blender
- Explore rendering techniques using Cycles.
- Lighting techniques
- Post-processing/Compositing
